Johnny Basset at Lola's




Johnny Basset is a great blues/jazz group that I saw at dinner last night. Really nice textures and grooves. Mature musicians with a light touch, they can swing and put you in a groove. A funky good time. I wanted to dance while I ate my salad.

Ninos Aghakhan

Ninos Aghakhan is a Chicago artist with a nice website. His work can be viewed at http://ninosaghakhan.com/. Ninos builds his city scapes on a grid system with subtle color variations. Ninos has an interest in abstraction.

SSM at the Bohemian

Quite a good show. I have seen SSM several times. They keep improving subtly, especially in their sound quality. It was a tight set of material recently recorded by the evening's sound man Chris Koltay. The Bohemian was breaking in a new PA wich worked fine for SSM. The lights were a welcome effect for the viewers enjoying the aesthetic pleasures of the Bohemian. The Bohemian is being restored back to its original beauty slowly but surely.
